What has 35 artists, 200 paintings, free food and beer samples?
Come on over to see the fourth annual Square Foot Show at Art Alchemy Studio/Gallery 362-C 10th St. in Courtenay this Friday, June the 20th at 7PM. This year’s show will feature more than 35 artists exhibiting as many as 200 paintings. All paintings are 12” x 12” and cost just $225. That’s original paintings from great artists for $225! Some new artists at the show to look out for: Taryn Goodwin, Madelaine Wood and Gretchen Markle.
I have a personal connection with the Square Foot Shows as the very first was held at my old restaurant, The Purple Onion Deli in Comox. That was a great night where there were so many people attending they were spilling out into the street. We sold 38 paintings over the course of the show and I bought one as well. I can proudly say “I own a Schappy”! How fun is that?
This is going to be such a fun show with catering by the Guerrilla Food Company and beer by Wolf Brewing from Nanaimo. Wolf Brewing will be releasing a new line of beer labels featuring Vancouver Island artists and Helen Utsal of Art Alchemy will be featured! Great art, exciting times, delicious food and beer samples! What more could you ask for? Oh, maybe this… Seems last year’s show produced a love affair between a certain Laurie Myers and one Guillermo Miers…. You never know what you’ll find when you visit a gallery. One artist, who will remain unnamed, (Lucy Schappy), said “this is going to be a hot show…very hot”. I believe it.
